Frequently asked questions
How online manual generation, PDF document sharing, and manual sharing work in Online Manual — including retention, sign-in, and file limits.
What is Online Manual used for?
Online Manual generates clean, printable PDFs from Markdown (or from an uploaded PDF file) and shares them as an unlisted short link with a QR code — ideal for equipment manuals, maintenance SOPs, lab procedures, safety sheets, and product inserts.
How does PDF document sharing work?
Every manual gets an unlisted short link (for example manual.kitzo.work/ABC123) and a QR code. Anyone holding the link can open and download the PDF — no account needed to view a shared manual. Links are unlisted and noindex; they are not secret, just not published to search engines.
How does online manual generation work?
Write your manual in Markdown or upload an existing PDF, then sign in with a 6-digit code sent to your email — no password. Online Manual converts the Markdown to a sanitized, print-ready PDF (A4 or Letter), stores it, and returns a short link and QR code you can print on the machine or box.
How long are shared manuals kept?
Free manuals expire after 3 months. Paid manuals may be retained for at most 5 years from creation. Any manual may be removed sooner for prohibited content, legal risk, security abuse, or violation of the terms.
Can I keep the source Markdown?
Yes. Sign in and use the Download Markdown button on the manual page to keep the editable source alongside the PDF.
Do I need an account to read a manual someone shared?
No. Viewing and downloading a shared PDF needs no sign-in. Sign-in is required only to publish your own manual or to download the source Markdown.
What types of documents can I publish?
Equipment and machine setup guides, lockout/tagout cards, maintenance SOPs and checklists, lab and workshop procedures, warranty and shipping instructions, product inserts with QR quick-starts, and internal policy documents that still need a PDF.
Does Online Manual replace safety compliance review?
No. Online Manual distributes documents; it does not certify legal or safety compliance. Qualified people must review and approve safety-critical content before it is published.
Why is manual sharing unlisted instead of public?
Manuals are meant for specific people — a crew, a customer, a machine. Unlisted links keep manuals out of search results and off indexers; anyone with the link can open the PDF, and the manual publisher controls the link.
What file limits apply?
PDFs must be 5 MB or smaller and Markdown source 1 MB or smaller. PDFs may be removed at any time for prohibited content, legal risk, security abuse, or terms violations.
